A NEW SEASON: This past year has been full of changes for us as a family. After selling our farm, we relocated to Port Elizabeth at Easter, and have spent the last 4 months settling into our new home. This has been quite a process, as furniture, animals, plants and endless boxes have been moved, unpacked, rearranged, and sometimes given to new owners to be loved and cherished.
Not all the boxes are unpacked, but one of the first things we did was to customise a room specifically to produce Rachel’s Garden products!
It has been fun and exciting to move into this new space, and we are finally ready to get back into production.
We have not yet found the right outlet in PE, but products can be collected from our home in Walmer or delivered where possible.
We still supply the Graaff-Reinet community with a selection of Healing Hand Creams, Lip Balm, Cuticle Oil, and Deodorants, now available from THE SLOWMADE COLLECTIVE in Queens Street. Watch this space for new developments!

GOING GREEN: We only use NATURAL PRODUCTS, many of which I grow in my garden, including SPINACH.  Don’t underestimate this green vegetable!. As I don’t use any artificial colourants in my products, spinach is the perfect green, to use in my handmade soaps.
We all know spinach is good for us to eat, but for those who don’t enjoy the taste, the good news is that it also works from the outside! Spinach contains retinol, vitamins A, C, E, and K—which work together to help your skin enhance its radiance, heal scars and sun damage, as well as fortifying its natural barrier. It is also known to reverse pollution damage!
After picking the leaves, I chop and cook them, then dry this mixture in the sun before grinding it into a powder and adding it to my hand-made beauty soaps. Next time you have a bath or shower, GO GREEN!
